"The Guardian"
Remy — short for Remington — is a Great Pyrenees/Komondor mix Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD). His job is to protect the sheep and goats of Valais Hideaway, and he takes that job with the quiet, steady seriousness of someone who was built for it. But don't let the guardian role fool you — Remy is deeply social, enormously fluffy, and has an easy warmth that draws both animals and humans toward him. He has a way of making everyone feel like they're being looked after. Because they are.
Remy came to Valais Hideaway for one reason: to protect the flock. Great Pyrenees and Komondor mixes are legendary LGDs — bred for centuries to live with livestock, bond to them, and guard them through any weather. Remy arrived and immediately set about doing exactly that. He found the sheep. He found the goats. He decided they were his, and that was that. The "Remy and friends" dynamic was established within a week. He is the guardian, the constant, the big fluffy presence who makes everything feel safer.
Remy takes his guardian role seriously. He watches, he patrols, and he is always aware of where his flock is.
For a dog bred to handle predators, Remy is extraordinarily soft with the animals he loves. Size and gentleness, together.
LGDs are known for their steady temperament. Remy doesn't rattle easily. He moves through crisis like it's just another Tuesday.
Despite his serious job, Remy is deeply affectionate. He loves people and animals alike. He just also happens to be very large.
